The thoughts of creating a vision board is exciting and life giving, but have you ever been stuck on what to actually put on your vision board?
Well, these vision board printables and templates will help you on your journey to creating a vision board that actually works.
Creating vision boards is such a powerful thing to do when trying to achieve your goals.
It helps you to step outside of yourself and believe that you don’t have to do everything when it comes to bringing your desires to fruition. That simply by putting your desires on your board, your reality can and will change.
While it may not always be that simple, there is definitely truth to that statement. I’m a witness
There are a few important things to consider when creating your board, and it one of the important things is what you actually put on the board.
These free vision board printables will help you to create that elusive vision board that you have been hearing so much about! One that actually helps to transform your reality and create a life you truly love.
What is a vision board
Before we get into the printables, let’s first talk about what a vision board is.
A vision board is a board (usually a poster board) that displays pictures of what you want for your future. It can also include words and affirmations that represent your desires.
Sounds simple enough right?
Well it can be, but I believe that the key with a vision board is to get absolutely clear about what you want and choose the words and images that are in alignment with it.
First close your eyes and think about where you want to be in the next 1, 5, or even 10 years.
What do you see? Who do you see around you? What is your ideal situation? Who do you want to be serving or contributing to? Who do you want to become?
These are all questions you want to think about and ask yourself when you are creating a vision for your life.
Give yourself time to really go deep and figure this out, even if it is just 1 year out that you are thinking about.
Now, a vision board is what you just imagined in your mind, but now put into still picture form on a poster board to be put up on your wall and ideally viewed on the daily.
So if you imagined yourself working with young girls hosting a summer camp, then you could print out pictures of young girls at a summer camp and maybe even put a picture of yourself standing next to them on your board.
Maybe the young girls in the photo are excited and smiling in a way that shows you made a difference in their lives over that summer.
You could even create a story about what happened in the photo to really connect you to it when looking at it on your vision board.
Why create a vision board
Everyone should have a vision board. Yep errrrbody. I say this because we all desire to have something in our lives, it’s human nature and that’s ok!
But where we get stuck sometimes in our Western way of thinking is that we have to constantly work hard nonstop to get it. And this is simply just not true.
It is important to plant the seeds with our action, but watch them come true with our vision.
When I danced with Beyonce, it’s because I had taking action towards my goals by becoming a professional dancer and had planted the seed 2 years prior by submitting a video and being hired to work with her choreographer in Christmas dance for the community.
2-3 years later, that same choreographer hired me to dance for her in Superbowl 50 without auditioning, after I’d written it on my vision board a year prior.
I planted the seed and created my vision. No Beyonce wasn’t holding auditions, yes she was already out on tour, but I knew I wanted to have the opportunity to work with her. I just had no clue how it would happen.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying hard work doesn’t pay off because it does indeed, but a lot of things in this world are out of the realms of our control, and that’s where a vision board comes in.
It puts our requests out to the Universe and pulls in the forces all around us to work to bring us those things that we can’t do ourselves. To align everything in just the right way.
And when we are in position to receive, we will…receive.
What should be included in a vision board
Now for the fun part! Actually creating the vision board.
These are the must haves for an uplifting and powerful vision board. Some of these are also included in the vision board printables!
- Pictures that speak to your vision – In the vision board printable, there is a worksheet called “My Dreams” to help you to get very clear about what you want for your life. This is a very important step to do BEFORE you actually create the vision board. It gives you the clarity you need to be intentional about your vision board
- Affirmations – Think about the affirmations that are going to feed your vision and help you to believe that you can and will receive what you have asked for. Affirmations should be written as though they have already happened and come true for you.
- Empowering words – These are words that are empower you to think positively about yourself, your goals, and just life in general. Our thoughts run on autopilot and when negative thoughts are put into our minds, we can cling to those and wonder why we don’t believe or are having a hard time manifesting our goals. We have to be intentional about putting the thoughts in our minds that we want to think, and empowering words help you to keep positivity in front of you regularly and feeds your vision.
- Feelings (the good ones) – just like empowering words, you want to keep feelings in front of you that you want to feel. The truth about achieving goals is that sometimes we think we want something only to get it and realize that it feels totally different from how we thought it would feel. When you focus also on how you want to feel when creating your vision, it calls those feelings into your existence as well. I always love to say “this or something better”.
What should you not put on a vision board
We focus a lot on what should go on a vision board, but I figure since a lot of people end up going astray in this area, that I should also include what not to put on your board.
- Goals that are not your own – It’s easy to get distracted and start looking at other people who are succeeding in areas that used to be something you were interested in, or is not your interest at all, but they seem to be making a lot of headway or a lot of money in that area. If you don’t know what you want, you can easily get caught up. Getting clear about what you desire will keep you from being distracted
- Random pictures just because they look good that have nothing to do with your vision – I’ve seen beautiful vision boards that look good, but have a lot of random pictures with no particular focus. Pretty pictures are great, but if they have nothing to do with your vision…ixnay on the ipinsay…meaning..you don’t need them lol
- Pictures and words that don’t make you feel really good – Your pictures should invoke an emotion that make you feel good when you look at them. You want your vision board to make you feel good when you look at it every morning.
- Goals that you are unsure about – Get very clear about what you want to be, do, and have. Clarity is important when creating a vision board. Take time to sit and center yourself so that you can really think about a clear vision for your life.
- What you think you “should” want as opposed to what you truly want – This is kind of in addition to the point above. Getting clear about your vision for your life will keep you from creating a vision board around what other people desire for you.
- Small thinking goals – Dream big! Don’t let small goals and small thinking keep you from living your best life! Don’t be afraid to ask for the goals and desires that are in your heart. One amazing thing that was told to me a long time ago is “your goals are not just for yourself”. Someone else is waiting for you to achieve before they can achieve. So dream big and show them that it is possible!
